Protest held demanding CBI probe into Sowjanya murder case


Belthangady :  A protest was staged by the Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane and DYFI, Belhangady unit  in front of the taluk  office on September 16, Monday urging the government to hand over the Sowjanya case to the CBI.
Speaking on the occasion, Samatha Bharatha Jnana Vijnana State Convener and Thinker N Prabha said  justice is still not secured in the Sowjanya case though justice has been done in the Delhi gang rape case. She deplored the rising cases of atrocities on women.

DYFI State President N L Bharathraj warned that a protest will be staged in Mangalore on October 9 if the government did not pay heed to the demand.

Sowjanya’s mother Kusuma  said while deploring the failure of the cops to arrest the real culprits said she was still hoping for justice.

Sowjanya case : CID will take time to submit final report


If the judgment in the Delhi gang rape case has been delivered within nine months of the incident, the CID which is investigating into the Sowjanya rape and murder case that shook the entire district , has still not submitted its final report. The investigation agency has said that it needs still more time for that.|

Speaking to The Canara Times, Jagadish, DySP of CID said “ It will take much time to submit the final report.The report will be submitted to the District Court after several rounds of deliberations with higher officials.” “ We cannot set any time frame for the investigation. We are submitting a few reports of the investigation to the court today,” he said.
Two officials of the CID had arrived in Belthangady on September 15, Sunday and were in the district since the past three days bringing in hopes that the report may be submitted soon . But now, the hopes have been dashed.
